South Alta REA builds, owns, operates and maintains distribution line across Southern Alberta, both single and three phase.  Currently the Association serves approximately 2,700 members consisting primarily of farm and irrigation services.

The Association is governed by a Board of Directors, elected by the membership. The Board focuses on leadership by planning, policy setting and delegating the implementation to all staff through the General Manager.  Annually the Association holds its Annual General Meeting.  Date and time is advertised in local papers and in the Association’s news letters over a period of 3 months.  It is at this venue that members have an opportunity to discuss, approve or reject budgetary & operations issues with the Board of Directors.

You are a member – not a customer.  Unlike the investor owned utility companies there are no shareholders receiving annual dividends from profit.
